About Bouwers Design Landscaping in North Bay, Ontario
Bouwers Design Landscaping Inc. is a hardscape and landscape contractor in North Bay, Ontario, founded in 2024 by Dylan Bouwers. A small crew of two to four installs interlock driveways, flagstone patios, retaining walls, and full landscape designs across the Nipissing district. Every install carries a five-year workmanship warranty on top of the full manufacturer warranty on every paver, block, and stone product. Bouwers is funded by its own work, not the bank, which is why the schedule is honest, the base prep gets done right, and the build stays on time. Typical residential projects run between $15,000 and $30,000 CAD.
Built Elegance
Outdoor spaces built to last and to age elegantly through every Northern Ontario season.
The work behind the name on the truck
Dylan Bouwers grew up around tools and trades, then took the long way into hardscape. The work hasn't changed since: hand-laid pavers, real material specs, and a finish that holds up to the salt, freeze, and thaw cycles that define Northern Ontario.
Dylan Bouwers founded Bouwers Design Landscaping in 2024 after years on hardscape crews across the North Bay region. He kept seeing the same pattern: driveways that looked good in year one and started settling by year three, patios that crinkled at the joints because the base was rushed, retaining walls that leaned because nobody priced in the drain rock. The shortcut always showed up later, on someone else's property. Dylan started the company to do it the other way around: take a little longer on the base, charge for what the job actually needs, and stand behind the work for five years in writing.
The brand sits on three words: design, structure, finish. Design is the layout and the material selection. Structure is the part nobody sees: aggregate base depth, compaction, drainage, edge restraint. Finish is the polymeric sand, the saw cut, the clean exit. A great-looking install on a weak base is a future repair. A solid base with no design is a parking lot. Bouwers does all three on every project.
North Bay is home. The crew lives here, buys materials from local distributors, and knows what the freeze-thaw cycle does to a poorly built install. That local knowledge is why every Bouwers base is over-specced for the climate, not under-specced for the budget. Hand-laid Permacon and Techo Bloc products, set on the right depth of compacted aggregate, jointed with polymeric sand. Most clients are homeowners, often retired, who have lived with a failing driveway or patio for a few seasons and have finally decided to do it once and do it right. A growing share of the work also comes from builders who want hardscape that matches the architecture of the home.
A small crew. The same hands from start to finish.
A small crew of two to four, including Dylan. No subcontractor rotation, no handoff between trades, no day-rate strangers walking the property.
The Bouwers crew is a small group of two to four, including Dylan. Dylan runs the design, estimating, and on-site lead role. The rest of the team are full-time hardscape crew who excavate, set base, lay pavers, build walls, and finish each install. The same hands are on your property from day one through clean exit. That continuity is the difference between a project that drifts from the original plan and a project that lands exactly where it was drawn. A small crew means the conversation is direct: questions get answered in person, changes get walked through on-site, and nothing gets lost in translation between sub-trades.
How we work, in plain terms
Five ideas that shape every Bouwers Design Landscaping project, from the first site visit to the day the install is signed off.

01
Design, structure, and finish carry equal weight
A great-looking install on a weak base will fail. A solid base with no design intent looks like a parking lot. We treat layout, base prep, and final finish as one craft, not three. Every install gets all three.

02
Plans flex as the project evolves
Sites surprise everyone. A drainage issue shows up two feet down, a homeowner sees a finished step and wants the path widened, a builder changes the entry grade. We talk it through, re-quote what changes, and keep moving. The plan serves the project, not the other way around.

03
Polite, on-time, and easy to work with
Phones answered, calls returned same day, trucks on-site when the schedule says they will be. The Bouwers crew is on your property for one to four weeks. That matters. Polite is not a soft skill on a jobsite, it is a hard requirement.

Five-year workmanship warranty, in writing
Every install carries a five-year workmanship warranty covering settlement, joint failure, and edge restraint failure under normal use. That sits on top of the full manufacturer warranty on every paver and stone product installed. The warranty is documented, not verbal.

05
Funded by our work, not the bank
Bouwers Design Landscaping is financially stable, with no project debt riding on the next deposit. That changes how a project runs: we can take the time to do base prep right, source the exact material specified, and refuse to rush a finish to meet a cash-flow deadline. Stability shows up in the build.
Materials we specify and trust
Hardscape is only as good as what goes in it. We work with manufacturers whose products are engineered for Northern Ontario's freeze-thaw climate and whose warranties stand behind the install.
Every Bouwers project is built with products from a tight list of suppliers we know inside-out: Techo Bloc, Permacon, Oaks Landscape Products, Browns, and Bestway Stone. We choose the line for the specific job at hand, not the cheapest pallet on the lot. Each manufacturer carries its own product warranty, which sits underneath our five-year workmanship warranty, so the finished install is covered top to bottom.
